Many in the world are actively engaged in the research and development of all things biotechnological because it holds great a promise for the future. In the field of research into proteomics, which is a major part of post-genome research, mass spectrometry has become an indispensable tool for evaluating biopolymers, including peptides, proteins, and nucleic acids. Among such tools is the MALDI-TOFMS mass spectrometer for which development efforts have been made by many researchers, including Mr. Koichi Tanaka, who received the Nobel Prize in chemistry in 2002.
Together with Ajinomoto Co., Inc.'s life science laboratory, which began active efforts of researching amino acids and proteins many years ago, we at Eisyo Metal have been engaged in joint research into the improvement of emitters for nano-electrospray ionization employed in this mass spectrometry method. This effort has let us start volume-production of extremely durable high-quality emitters. And now we have embarked on outside sales of these emitters under the Micro Metal Tip name.
We would like to continue to be of much help to all while hoping that those technologies born and grown here in Tokyo's Ota Ward will contribute to the growth of advanced science and technology and of industry based on it.

| Features of MicroMetalTip |
| | |

| The mechanical strength of MicroMetalTip is higher than that of conventional tips made of glass or fused silica. | |
|
Its very thin metallic bore, which is as narrow as 30Micro in its inside diameter, is sufficiently flexible but will not undergo bending.
In on installation, you can work on it securely ? without having to worry about damage.
| | |

| You can use MicroMetalTip in the same way you use conventional tips made of glass or fused silica. | |
|
The new product is available in various models, and all you have to do is replace your fused silica tip with a MicroMetalTip.
MicroMetalTip comes in three different lengths, from which you can select to suit your type of mass spectrometry.
| | |

| The service life of MicroMetalTip is much longer than that of conventional tips made of glass or fused silica. | |
| Because electrospray ionization usually requires a high voltage, the glass surfaces of conventional tips are coated with a substance like metal or electrically conductive polymer. The problem is that these coatings will break away easily and thus interrupt continuous hours-long experiments. For Eisyo Metal's MicroMetalTip, however, the entire of the main tip is made of an electrically conductive substance to provide significantly improved durability. You will no longer encounter any situation in which you have to interrupt your experiment as a result of a worn-out electrode or in which you have to accept lower data reliability. | |
| | |

| Because of its straight bore, MicroMetalTip is free from back pressure and is hardly subject to any clogging. | |
|
The flow rate range achievable is now on the order of somewhere from nanoliters per minute (nl/min) to microliters per minute
(Microl/min). When used for long hours, conventional tips have suffered from clogging; however, this bottleneck has been removed and continuous use lasting many hours is now possible. You can use a wide range of flow rates between 20 nl/min and 3Microl/min. This makes it possible to reduce the time taken for column equalization and cleaning.
| | |

| The flow rate and sensitivity of MicroMetalTip are equivalent to, or better than, those of conventional tips made of glass or fused silica. | |
|
With a very low flow rate not exceeding 20 nl/min, you can achieve stable ionization. New electrodes provide a longer service life because they have undergone improvements in shape and quality. We have successfully established our own process capable of high-quality, volume production due to micro-fabrication. This has made it easy to change the shape of the tip, among other things, thus making it possible to obtain long-life electrode shapes. Our strict quality control has also led to a major reduction in contamination, so that it is possible to get low-background spectra.
